Testimonials

“Respectfully Yours just completed the estate sale process for my mother’s home. It was a difficult process, as my mother lived in the same house for thirty years, and was a hoarder…every closet, drawer and cabinet was stuffed with items; yet the team remained positive, friendly and extremely informative throughout.

Jean and her assistants spent two and a half weeks in the house, organizing and pricing items (they even rented a dumpster to get rid of the “junk”) and then held the sale over a three day weekend. They moved all the valuable and big items, including two cars and many antiques.

I was especially comforted with their communication on email and by phone, as I live in another state than mom’s house. They forwarded pictures and listings, copies of advertising they did, and even their communication with mom’s neighbors. They utilized a list of over 1000 customers and dealers, which I am sure contributed to the success of the sale.

They even continued to provide service AFTER getting paid, by helping us with charitable contribution agencies, and another dumpster for lumber, etc. That is extremely rare among today’s businesses, in any field.

I had gotten Jean’s name and phone number from a high school friend who had had them do the estate sale for her mother and was very pleased. I can be added to that list of very happy clients, as they saved me many months of work, and many headaches.

Use Respectfully Yours Estate Sales with confidence…they are the greatest! I can be contacted for verbal references, if necessary.”

Sincerely,

Joy Conway

“Dear Respectfully Yours,

Thanks for your leads regarding the dumpster and ARC. We took advantage of both. We had two Arc semi trucks on sight, with six employees; three people from Mom’s church, Roger and his friend and Frank and I…and we 13 got the whole house, garage and two sheds STRIPPED in two days. There is literally nothing left!

We took a 16 foot Penske truck home and filled a third storage unit for Mom and my Vintage and More store.

She will visit the storage units on Friday, after lunch, and see the deposit slip for $15,372…and we will drive back up to Denver on Monday to start the sale process on the house.

The only snafu was the freezer…we left it out on the driveway between the dumpster and the garage for Tobe and Jesse to pick up, and it was stolen before they got there.

Thank you again SO MUCH for doing such a great job. I have attached a letter of recommendation in two formats for your book. I hope you have continued success in your estate sale business…you gals really have the knack!”

Best Wishes,

Joy Conway

Hello Jean —

Hope this finds you well and enjoying the spring weather — at least temporarily.

Our friends, Julie and Rick Powers, know someone who’d like to talk with you about the specifics of an Estate Sale like ours. We’ve told them what a great job you did, and we know that you’ll be just as helpful to their friends.

By way of this e-mail I’m giving the Powers an e-mail contact for you. We trust you can arrange a meeting and go from there. Good luck with it.”

Thank You and Best wishes,

Margie and Don

Frequently Asked Questions

Who needs the services of Respectfully Yours? Estate Liquidators/Consultants

  • Family members or relatives who have a probated or non-probated estate, which needs to be liquidated.
  • Individuals downsizing or relocating a residence and who wish to liquidate all or some of the household contents.
  • People going through a divorce, separation or major lifestyle change resulting in the need to sell possessions.

When Estate Sales are usually held:

  • The sale itself is usually conducted on a weekend, and most often will include Thursday, Friday & Saturday. However, each sale is unique and the hours and days are determined accordingly. Larger sales may include additional days and hours.

Why Should I have an Estate Sale?

  • Having an estate sale on-site will bring in more money from the sale of the personal property than by any other means of liquidation. Your items are more appealing and sell better when they are displayed in an appropriate atmosphere. An on-site sale offers the convenience of no packing and no moving, both of which can result in damage to assets.

How is advertising handled?

  • Newspaper Ads, E-Mails to more than 1,000 people, sale flyer distribution, Craig’s List, and phone calls. Included in the information are brief descriptions of the estate contents, the date, location and time of the sale. We have an extensive list of collectors, dealers, designers, & retail customers.

Why Should I hire Respectfully Yours, Estate Liquidators/Consultants?

  • Premier Estate Liquidators, LLC, serves as the administrator of the sale of all items included and will work to bring in collectors, dealers and buyers willing to pay the best prices. Identification of and placing a value on antiques, collectibles and household items, coupled with a knowledge of the best fair-market value for merchandise take study and experience. It involves continual research. In short, it takes a full-time professional who specializes in this work. Our qualified staff provides you with just that experience. The extra money an experienced agent can realize for you from just a few items, priced right, can sometimes pay the entire commission charged for the sale.

How Much Will it Cost to have an Estate Sale?

  • It will cost nothing out of pocket. Estate sale professionals usually charge a commission based on the size of the sale, how much work will be involved to prepare and run the sale and whether or not there will be travel expenses should the sale be located in a city outside normal range of operation. A comfortable range for commission on a sale is between 35% and 40%.

How Long Does it take to Prepare a Sale?

  • A good estate sale professional will be able to keep preparation time to a minimum, usually one – two weeks for an average size sale. Some sales require more time depending on the quantity of merchandise. Time is required for sorting, pricing, displaying, and advertising deadlines. It ensures that everything is organized and displayed appropriately before the sale begins.

What is Done with Things that Do Not Sell?

  • At the completion of the sale, the remaining items are disposed of per arrangemenst made ahead of time between the owner and the agent. In cases where items are donated to a charity, agent will supply, to the owner, a receipt used for tax deduction purposes.

Do I Need to Be Present During the Sale?

An owner is certainly welcome to be present. However, most agents will agree that it seems easier for family to stay away. This is a very emotional time and it is just less painful to not witness the sale of treasured items. The owner’s presence at the sale can be intimidating for customers and, in fact rarely helps to increase the proceeds from the sale.

Estate Sale Items that Do Not Sell

Estate Sale/Liquidation Cost

The “Menu of Services” includes doing the entire estate sale for a commission or helping you prepare/price when you wish to host your own sale.

Commission Sales are charged a percentage based on the size of the sale, how much work is involved to prepare and run the sale and whether or not there will be travel expenses. Percentages are normally around 35%-40%.  We take care of everything and there is usually no out of pocket expense to you.

For those hosting their own sale, an hourly fee is charged in preparation and/or pricing.

REMEMBER:  The difference between a professional pricing and a novice pricing can be hundreds of dollars for one item.  At one family-hosted- estate sale a doll was purchased for $10.00 that was worth $700.00.  Another sale sold several pieces of Van Briggle Pottery for 50 cents; the pottery was worth $35.00 – $250.00 each.

Don’t let that happen to you.
